NEW YORK (Reuters) - Delta Air Lines'chief financial officer Michele Burns will resign and join the energy company Mirant Corp., the Wall Street Journal said on Thursday.

The news comes one day after the struggling airline posted its 13th consecutive quarterly operating loss and is expected to be announced on Thursday, the Journal said, citing people familiar with the matter.
