For everyone who cares about the Delta Family Care Retirement Plan
There are no Spirit Corps volunteer opportunities right now. Watch the DALRC home page for new openings.
See the 8/27/04 letter to all volunteers, active and retired, below.
Introduction
For several months we had a note on this site requesting your suggestions for ways in which retirees might contribute to Delta’‘s efforts to return to profitability. We are grateful to each of you who responded.
In April, the DALRC board along with Ron Stowe of the DP3 (Delta Pilot Pension Preservation Organization) board met with Delta Consumer Marketing to discuss the feasibility and logistics of a retiree volunteer program to assist Delta in its recovery efforts. The result of those discussions is the Delta Spirit Corps program which we hope and believe will complement Delta's efforts in community engagement while allowing retirees to show their support and appreciation for the many years of service to Delta and their gratitude for the benefits they continue to receive due to that service.
This program will provide an avenue for Delta to use the talents of retired employees on a volunteer basis, much as they do with the Peach Corpsprogram for active employees. The goal of the program is to provide a cushion of support for active employees in their effort to raise the level of customer service at our airports as well as to improve community engagement. If we are successful, we can help to turn the tide in the way Delta customers view their travel experience at Delta, thus impacting the bottom line in a positive way! If you would like to participate, click on an opportunity listed above.
Here's how it works
When DALRC is notified that volunteers are needed for a scheduled event, the call for volunteers will be posted here. If you wish to participate in the event, click on the event link above to see event information and register. Online sign-up requires VPN (Virtual Private Network) access to DeltaNet. For information on connecting to DeltaNet, go here. If you cannot access DeltaNet, ask a friend with access to enroll you, or contact Cathy Cone.
Delta will try to notify DALRC and DP3 at least a week before the scheduled event when assistance is needed, but will always provide at least three days notice.
It is important to note that the participation in these events is on a first come, first served basis so if you are interested, please sign up early! Once the projected level is reached, the event will be closed to participation.
If you have difficulty enrolling or need assistance in completing the process, please contact Cathy Cone who will do all possible to assist you.
Spirit Corps volunteers may sign up only for the specific programs designated for our participation. Even though you can view the entire calendar, you may volunteer for only those events posted on the DALRC website.
If you must cancel your participation in an event, contact the Atlanta Volunteer Leader. If you have no e-mail access, you may call Cathy Cone at 832 541-8842.
When registering for an event,
Spirit Corps volunteers will use the following designators: Employee #: SpiritCorps
Division: DL Spirit Corps
Station: RET
Dept: RET
Manager E-mail: LeLanya.Vishnu@delta.com
Spirit Corps volunteers and active employee volunteers will be given identical shirts to ensure that customers see us as one united force for Delta. Delta may add a Spirit Corps button or sticker to identify us as retirees. If asked you can explain the program that Delta has established to allow retiree groups to complement Delta's efforts in community engagement.
The event description on the DALRC website as well as on DeltaNet will include all pertinent information for your event including parking information. You may be offered an opportunity to bring a guest to the event. As a rule, the guest is not required to work
as a volunteer. If the guest rule is different for an event, it will be noted on the information page. Guests must be at least 16 years old; any exceptions will be noted.
Four days before the scheduled event, you will receive an e-mail reminder of your participation.
We hope you'll help
Please join members of the DALRC in supporting this very important effort as we unite with active employees in doing our part to make a difference that will help return Delta to its rightful position at the top of the industry in the eyes of our customers.
Thanks as always for your support,
DALRC Board of Trustees
received 8/27/04 from the ATL DL Volunteer Coordinator, Lei Vishnu
All,
Again thank you for your continued support at all of our marketing effort. The enthusiasm and spirit of all of the volunteer base never ceases to amaze me. And your efforts are what continue to make the event activations a great success!!
We have added a few new markets to our volunteer efforts - SLC & CVG - and the outpouring of support in those markets echo the sentiment in the markets where volunteer efforts have already been established. So thank you to Salt Lake City and Cincinnati employees for getting our efforts in those markets started off on the right foot.
Additionally, for those that do not know, we have had a large amount of retirees ask how they could get involved with the marketing efforts. Thus we started theSpirit Corps, to give retirees the opportunity to work side-by-side with active employees at some of our marketing efforts. Here is a news article announcing that program: http://dalweb.delta-air.com/dnn/08-04/081004_3.htm
For all of the support we always like to pick one person that volunteered in the past month as our LUCKY VOLUNTEER WINNER!! This month it we picked Vivian Peplinski from Salt Lake City. She is the lucky winner of a 1 night stay at a Radisson of her choice anywhere in the WORLD. It is just our way of saying thank you for your support.
